Hoof boots can be a great asset to any horse program.  Many horse owners use hoof boots if they want to ride in the mountains, over rough terrain, or if they ride on roads a lot.  While hoofs can be conditioned to go soundly barefoot on these terrains, it takes a lot of conditioning to get the hoof to that point, so boots are a much easier and realistic alternative.

Also, some horses have a hard time making the transition from wearing shoes to going barefooted.  Especially if you want to keep riding your horse regularly when you pull his shoes, using hoof boots can cut the transition time to little, or even nothing.
